Linux Mac ohne Kamera verbinden Wortcode
Connect Linux and Mac without a camera using a word code
Why 4 to 6 short words are often better than a long link when connecting two desktop devices.
Who is this for?
For developers, admins, and anyone moving between Linux PC, Mac, VM, or a second browser window.
The problem
Without a camera, QR becomes impractical. Long links are secure, but annoying and error-prone to type.
The ClipToss way
Word-code mode creates short words that are entered on the second device. The browser derives the session key from them and then transfers content encrypted.
Step by step
- 1Open ClipToss on device A and choose word code.
- 2Enter the shown words on device B.
- 3After pairing, send short text, links, or small files.
- 4Close the session after the transfer.
Practical tips
- Only read or show words in a private setting.
- In public spaces, copying the secure link is better than typing aloud.
- For multiple transfers, ClipToss also attempts a direct WebRTC connection.
FAQ
Is a word code secure enough?
It is meant for short sessions and is additionally protected by expiry, rate limits, and client-side encryption. It does not replace a permanently stored key.
