Mac Linux Text Datei übertragen

Transfer text and small files between Mac and Linux

A simple browser-based approach for Mac to Linux, Linux to Mac, and other combinations without installation.

Who is this for?

For developers, admins, students, and anyone who regularly switches between different operating systems.

The problem

AirDrop does not work on Linux, messengers are a poor place for secrets, and USB drives are too clumsy for small snippets.

The ClipToss way

ClipToss uses browser capabilities instead of operating-system lock-in. If both devices have a modern browser, transfer can start via QR, link, or direct browser connection.

Step by step

  1. 1Open the same ClipToss page on Mac and Linux.
  2. 2Use QR for nearby devices, otherwise use a link or manual word code.
  3. 3Send text, terminal commands, configuration values, or a small image.
  4. 4Close the session once the transfer is done.

Practical tips

  • For repeated transfers, ClipToss automatically attempts a direct WebRTC session after pairing.
  • For one short command, QR transfer is often faster.
  • On unfamiliar networks, keep expiration short and encryption enabled.

FAQ

Do both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi?

Not for every mode. Direct peer connections benefit from it, while QR and fragment links can be useful without shared Wi-Fi.

Can I send large files?

ClipToss is intentionally designed for small content. Dedicated file-transfer tools are better for large files.
